Lynn Fogel, Contemporary Artist working in Mixed Media

Lynn Fogel’s earliest memory of creating art was when she was just a baby, drawing with crayons on the walls or anywhere that she could find a drawing surface. Growing up in Santa Barbara, California, she could no longer resist the lure of the big city and moved to Manhattan. The Soho District sparked her interest to be a painter. Moving over to Boston she studied at the New England School of Art & Design  and later at the Montserrat College of Art, in Beverly, Massachusetts in the mid 80's. Ever since she’s been painting prolifically and hundreds of her paintings and prints are throughout the world.

After  years of painting Santa Barbara scenes and other subjects on location and from her photographs in her studio, Lynn felt the need to fully express herself without interpreting her surroundings.  Influenced by artists Edward Hopper and Van Gough for their very thick applications of paint and vibrant colors, she sculpts with a modeling paste, which is applied to the canvas with a palette knife and other various tools for varied textures.  These works can be viewed in her portfolios titled, "3-D Sculptural Paintings" and  “Zen Works.”

As a member of the Santa Barbara Art Association, her works are occasionally displayed at Gallery 113 and other venues. Several paintings have been reproduced into limited editions and are currently being sold on the Princess Cruise Line ships worldwide.  She's been the featured artist in numerous publications and is currently being represented exclusively by an agent who is licensing her work to various companies.

Lynn shows her work every Sunday  (weather permitting) from 10-4 p.m. at the Cabrillo Arts & Crafts Show in Santa Barbara, California. To find her from Stearn's Wharf, just walk over the small bridge and her spot is right next to the first spot on the corner.
